I woke up the other day and realized that it is Fall. The hot, drawn out days of summer – seemingly never ending, have finally passed, and it dawned on me: we have arrived. The process of getting the shop moved, and running was complete. Through the diligence of our staff and customers, and the successful crossing of a few logistical hurdles, we have our space! And, it feels like home. Since early September we have had a month’s worth of knit nights, happy customers (new faces and familiar), and started our classes. Everything is now in full swing and we couldn’t be happier!
After a hiatus from our beloved fiber crafts community, it wasn’t enough for us to hold just one grand opening day, so we made it a week. A Grand Opening Week. And, a grand week it was too! On Monday, October 3rd, We had our Maddie Madness day, with all Madeline Tosh yarns buy one, get one at 50% off! Madeline Tosh was a very popular yarn that day… even one or two staff members succumbed to the sale.
Tuesday, is our traditional day for Knit Night, but on this Tuesday, along with our usual wit and wisdom, we also offered light refreshments and locally baked pastries from Stina Lu. https://www.facebook.com/GoodiesByStinaLu/
Wednesday of our Grand Opening week, we had a free craft class: bath bomb making! Carrie Nelson from Young Living came in during the day to teach us about the benefits of essential oils, and show us the bath bomb making process. The hard part was picking out which oils to use! They all smell so good!
On Thursday, we had a talented, local guest artist display his work in the shop. Jeff Leedy creates beautiful, colorful, and whimsical paintings of cats and dogs. We have his prints for sale in the shop, if you’re looking for a non-fiber holiday gift! Friday, Nicole taught a free cable technique workshop. Enjoyed by many customers, Nicole’s patient approach to teaching was a great, free treat for her students this day. Thanks to Nicole for all the work you put into the workshop, and for your kind and gentle teaching style! We look forward to all of your upcoming classes.
And now, for the grand finale; Saturday was our Kick Off the Season Sale! This year, all products in the store were 15% off! This yearly sale is a great opportunity to pick the yarn you need to get you through the Holidays! Again, some of the staff may have picked up one or two things…
We have new classes beginning every week, and new yarns arriving throughout the Fall! In just the past week, we received a new shipment of Misti Alpaca Lace, Manos del Uruguay ‘Allegria’, new colors of Berocco ‘Espresso’, and new to the store, Berocco’s wool, acrylic and viscose lace weight yarn, ‘Boboli Lace’. The colors in this yarn are rich, and the hand is soft; it’s on the heavier end of the lace weight yarn spectrum, making it versatile, and easy to handle. Come see the triangle, scarf Natalie is working on with this yarn! We have truly moved into our new space, and look forward to seeing you all here for Knit Nights, classes or, just to visit (we still have our Keurig so, no fear if you thought we’d stop serving coffee!). We’re adding new classes to the schedule all the time, with new, daytime classes being added, too! So, keep an eye on our calendar, if there was a class that you couldn’t make it to the first time it was offered, we may be offering it at another time!
To our Knit Night knitters, and all customers who came to see us at The Riverside Hotel over the summer, Thank you! We were so happy to see your faces and projects over the summer! Your continued support inspired us, and helped to feel excited for when we would re-open! We would also like to send out heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Riverside Hotel, for hosting us over the summer, and helping us to feel at home! You guys have the best cookies!
Happy Fall to all of our friends in the fiber universe! It’s our favorite time of the year; knitting, crochet, spinning and felting time!
