Happy New Year Fiber Friends!

What's new at The Ewe this year? Once again, in January we are taking inspiration from the new Pantone color of the year.

Classic Blue:
A timeless and enduring blue hue, Classic Blue is elegant in its simplicity. Classic Blue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era. Classic Blue brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit, offering refuge.

Classic Blue reminds me of my blue jeans sturdy, reliable, and most importantly, comfortable. Our goal for this year is to bring the comfort of Classic Blue into our creative space. We all know, 2020 is going to be one heck of a year, considering the political climate. While conversations may become heated in the country, we invite you to leave them at the door when you come and stitch. Our round table is an oasis to build connections within the fiber community. Throughout the year, anyone can come relax and enjoy a few hours of fiber therapy!

2020 - The Year of Up-Cycling

Classic Blue reminds me of my jeans because of the the timeless denim color. How appropriate for our 2020 theme of up-cycling!

Up-cycling is the process of transforming old or unwanted materials into something new. To up-cycle is to take the next step in easing the effects of the fashion industry, which is the 2nd most pollutant industry in the world!

There are tons of ways to up-cycle. In this photo, I reused some old jeans by turning them into jarn (jean-yarn). Another alternative is making plarn from plastic bags! Check out this awesome bag crocheted from plarn. You'd be surprised how many unique pieces of art you can make just out of scraps. We challenge you this year to push your creative boundaries by using up your odds and ends of yarn, fabric, and plastic.

This year, we will feature up-cycling classes and workshops. We hope to inspire you to create something new with what you already have!
