Artist Barbara Balkin, owner of Back Gate Studio, teaches workshops for all ages… Weaving, after-school Art Classes, Children’s Art Camps, Adult Paint Nights, Ceramics, Art Parties, and more.

“I provide a supportive atmosphere for exploring and broadening your creative experience. Step-by-step you’ll learn new skills, develop the self-esteem that comes with accomplishment, and have something wonderful to take home.

“In my own art practice, aside from painting, my passion for the last several years is creating Branch Weavings and Woven Wall Hangings. I create my own looms on locally sourced branches (though I’ve been known to weave on some pretty odd objects, too!). My work is heavily inspired by Idaho’s amazing natural environment. I mesh these surroundings with memories of family camp-outs and Hawaii vacations, blending interesting combinations of color and texture. Savoring the slow meditation of the weaving process, I seek to create visual distance and depth in my work."

Handmade sweaters and hats will last generations if made with the right materials.

Your talented stitching (beginner’s included) deserves to be supported with quality fibers and the right tools!
